Heyas,

I'm off to uni later this year and I'm planning to take the PC I built last year with me.

This is my current setup, along a Corsair 520W PSU and 320gb Seagate 7200.10:

I'm planning to upgrade to Vista x64 and add another 2gb of ram, along with a second HD. I'd also like to quieten the PC a bit by replacing the 120mm and 80mm case fans, as well as the 120mm fan in the Tuniq Tower, so that the noise isn't intolerable in the cupboard I'll be living in.

The PC will be used for just about everything, from internet access and Office to gaming and video encoding through a tv tuner.

For the ram, I thought I'd buy another couple of Geil sticks, the same type as my existing 2gb, to make 4x1gb.

I'd like the second HD to be fairly nippy and fairly quiet. I'm planning to stick Vista x64 on my existing 320gb 7200.10 and use the second HD for games, along with an 250gb external drive for MP3s and videos. I'm looking for a capacity of 640gb+. I was originally planning to get a Samsung F1, but I've heard noises about their reliability and would rather not take the risk.

Maybe a WD 640gb AAKS?

Fan-wise, I've read that Noctua NF-P12s are nice and quiet but very pricey. £30 to fit them in both the case and cpu cooler! Along with another £14 for what I'm guessing is the 80mm version. I'd also need a controller card that matches my horrible silver box, as well as a NB cooler since the P5N-E's seems to get a touch warm.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Thanks. :)
