Hi

Could anyone please give me a bit of upgrade advice.

I currently have a Pentium Dual Core E6700 2.66 ghz with 8GB Ram,
Radeon HD4870 1GB Graphics Card, with Windows 7 64 bit

The Motherboard is an AsRock P43DE

I don't use the pc for gaming, just general use, Photoshop, Lightroom and Bridge

Photoshop is a real system hog and with the extra large file sizes it creates it slows the pc down quite a bit.

Would it be worth putting a bigger dual core chip like the E8500 3.16ghz, a Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66ghz

or going the route of an i5 or i7 Overclocked bundle

Would an i7 be a bit much for what I would be using it for

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Graham

quad would be a good idea, maybe a q6600 second hand or one of the q8** series.

new processor wise the 2500K would do a good job, but the 2600K is spec'd for video editing etc, imo the outlay depends on if you do it for fun, or something a bit more serious.
