Hi Everyone,
So as of now, the mid end gaming rig I bought a few years ago won't cut it anymore. I've been looking into upgrades, but I'm not sure what route to take.

My specs are:
Athlon II 620 X4 @ 2.6ghz
DFI Lan Party 790FXB-M2RSH
4GB G-Skill DDR2-800
2x ATI Radeon 5750
WinPower 700w PSU.

About a year ago I was given an extra 5750. I put it in the computer without much thought and left it at that. After playing some more recent, much more demanding games, I found that the FPS I was getting was too low for my liking.

Currently, I'm aware of the fact that I need a new PSU to replace the POS I'm using currently (my mistake for not building myself), but otherwise I'm not exactly sure what route to take. I'm noticing maxed out CPU usage and about 60% usage per GPU when playing games like Just Cause 2. I'm also noticing better framerates with crossfire disabled on many games.

Any help you guys can offer is much appreciated.

Your best bet would be to drop in a newer quad core CPU, like the 955, Id still upgrade the gfx, something like a 6950, and a new quality PSU

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with Dirt3 & Deus Ex PC Games £215.99
1 x AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition "125W Edition" 3.20GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail with FREE Deus Ex PC Game £79.99
1 x Antec TruePower New Modular 650W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £64.98
Total : £372.36 (includes shipping : £9.50).

Thanks a lot! That seems like a good option overall, but how would it compare to remaining with the 5750s (for the time being) and going for a Sandy Bridge i5? I'm assuming that this would be more future proof. Is there just no difference between the two in terms of real world performance?

I'm rather reluctant to ditch my current motherboard too, since it's a good motherboard.
