So the want for something shiny is strong and it's been a while since I bought anything PC related. So do I...

1: Upgrade my 2x 670's in SLI?

Even though they don't really seem to be struggling I am mindful that 2gb Vram may be a problem in the coming year. I don't care about the talk regarding power consumption and 'single cards' less hassle etc as I've been running SLI for over 2 years now and not had one single problem.

2: Upgrade my S1156 i7 875k @ 4ghz to a newer CPU and mobo?
Again doesn't seem to be affecting me much in games and don't feel like I'm being CPU limited although I don't run any benchmarks to confirm or deny this.

3: Save the money and spend it on hookers?
Could be much more fun, particulary in SLI? :D

I've got a tower full of SSD's and 16gb of Samsung Green ram @ 2000mhz and my PSU is a Corsair CX750m.

£300'ish could go more but nothing stupid. Would just like to notice real world improvements for my cash as I'm not interested in 3dMark or PCMark benchmarks that have no effect on my day to day usage.

The info in this post sounds about right, i.e. 2 x 670s = 1 x 980 (more or less): http://www.overclock.net/t/1519308/...0-980-to-replace-gtx-670-sli/10#post_23036220

Since you're stressing real world noticeable improvement, and have no issues with SLI, then it doesn't seem like even a GTX 980 is worth it in your case, until you actually run into memory limitation problems.

I'd probably try and squeeze one more year out of them at least, then see what 980Ti (or better) prices are like.

Didnt realise the 670's were still as fast as that tbh so I'll probably just keep what I've got for a while yet or until something dies. Also just realised that I've never overclocked the 670's so that may give them a little boost.

They are the MSI Twin Frozr Power Editions so presume they have some headroom?

You might consider adding a third 670 if you can pick one up cheap and the rest of your system will support it without further purchase. You won't get much of an improvement in maximum framerate but you should get an improvement in smoothness and less microstutter.

Sound Card ?

I'd love a sound card but all the slots are covered by the 2x 670's apart from the top PCI-e slot. However I can't get a full size PCI-e card in there because the heatsink at the back of it rises above the height of the slot as per below, brilliant design MSI :(
