Hi all im currently running this setup

Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. Z77-D3H Motherboard (which one of the memory slots doesnt work)
Intel Core i5 3570K CPU
4096MB ATI Radeon RX 480 Graphics (Sapphire/PCPartner)
8.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 800MHz (11-11-11-28)
500GB Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB
1TB SAMSUNG HD103SJ (SATA )

I mainly play Football Manager 2019 on it which it does pretty well but im looking to upgrade so it runs faster and i can have more leagues installed on it.I have a budget of about £600 but im also looking at getting a new PSU because mine is getting on for 10 years old now and id rather change it now before it decides to start playing up.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated

Im pretty sure FM 2019 is more CPU based so you won't really have to change much to your build... The GPU and storage you have is decent enough..

With the fact that one of the RAM slots isnt working id swap out the DDR3 platform and Personally go for the Ryzen Bundle from OCUK and add a power supply with your remaining budget

(Just double check your case size to make sure motherboard fits)

that's a personal opinion if it was my PC, im sure others may have a different look at it. :)

I like the look of that but im not that bothered about upgrading my GPU so might spend the money on a monitor instead

Did a quick test there and it does look to be the same in that it only ever makes use of one core at a time 60-100% load on that core but only 10-12% Total CPU use with some higher spikes up. Most of the time one single core is heavenly engaged but the core that is doing the work seems to change between all of them, some more than others.

From the looks of it, it can see all the cores and threads but mainly uses the real cores and heavily favors one in particular.

bundle deal is good if looking to replace board and get 16GB ram which would help with large leagues and other games. As well as other current AAA titles taking advantage of more cores like BFV etc
and then you've also cured your PSU issue!

would recommend this Cooler with the above bundle ! and overclock all cores to 4.1/2ghz

this would see more gains if overclocked to 5ghz .

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £576.01 (includes shipping: £11.10)

though you loose out on the value of having a screen or GPU upgrade haha

You do notice these minor details then :D

yep, wondering if It works with Ultra wide screens.. would be killer!

just like to point out in 2011 FM, I found Neymar Before he was a blip on the map and Made Reading FC a powerhouse! something i'll always mention to my friends, I found and made Neymar :D

That certainly would take some mighty computing power. You found Neymar as it literally, 'did not compute' even for the non AI :D

haha, my football knowledge is pants, whilst my friends was a super computer. Had to rely on gaming skill and being able to read spreadsheets and treading data :D snapped the young whipper snapper up at 16 and BOOM! golden , till he left me :(

Almost, least I'll have 2 months with Zen2 before baby 3.0 haha
I'm going have a serious play with Zen 2 too - are you jumping straight in or waiting for board maladies to iron out before picking your x570 or are you getting flagship Gigabyte whatever?

I'm torn as i haven't got a Ryzen build in the house to experiment with - and the limited people i build for have upgraded with the last round of Ryzen releases or toasty INTEL (when i say limited - i mean way too many).

I may not be able to wait - but i'm too long in the tooth to play with immature BIOS for my own purposes - unless it's a purely experimental machine but i think my wife may start to think i'm taking the pee... And, @pastymuncher's last post made for interesting reading - clicky.

@Plec, prob Pro Wifi , will do me just fine . dont have interest in 16 core beasts
That's sorted then - you buy on release and i'll buy the Gigabyte pro (non wifi) after waiting a few of weeks, following your struggles with an immature BIOS until your happy with a stable'ish release...

...then i'll buy.

/imagines Orbi exaggerating stability and results so that i buy earlier so he has a fellow conspirator to share his woes with.

question is, amd overhauled design, power, speed - can it change is Micro coding which kills Bios updates/settings unlike Intel. been mentioned few times with different reps, AMD doesn't disclose full coding. so when vendors add it to a bios, all their bios tweaks before hand can be null and avoid - pot luck

OK, a month, perhaps a whole calendar month. :/
