Hi All,

So I wish to upgrade my severely outdated build. Currently I think I will need to upgrade the GPU and Power Supply, this is to be used for some moderate gaming so nothing too heavy.

My current build is my signature, but pasted below:

Corsair Graphite Series 230T | i5 4670K @ 4.3GHz
MSI Z87-G43 Gaming Series | Sapphire AMD R9 290 Tri-X 4906MB
TeamGroup Vulcan Gold 2x4GB 2133MHz | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD | Samsung 840 EVO 256GB

I am currently thinking of upgrading to the following:

GPU:

OR

Power Supply:

Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Bump - just to see if there’s any new advice.

currently thinking a GTX 2060 Super may give me 2/3 years at least.

Edit - Needs have also changed. Wish to make the complete switch to Pc Gaming.

s
o after a little bit of looking around decided this may be an ideal build. Just need some input on viability?

I just want to upgrade for upcoming games. So my monitor at the minute is a 144Hz Iiyama ProLite GB2488HSU.

Wanting to game at max FPS On games like COD, Escape from Tarkov, Assassins Creed Valhalla etc.

In all honesty pre-built is better for me as I simply don’t have the time to build myself. Plus, I’m entirely a liability at anything that requires a careful touch.

This is another option

I suppose another question I have is the benefit of the 10th Gen 5 compared to the 9th Gen? I suppose it’s worth mentioning I will also be using the system for University work (essays, spreadsheets, presentations, research and all that lark).

What would be the big difference in downgrading the TUF Z490 Motherboard down to a B460 version?

I know it’ll reduce the cost by half but will I see Significant impacts on performance or other component choices?

So I have had a quote back in regards to the above build. Fair price tbh (£1579 of fair price).

Only recommendation from themselves was to go for a mesh case to allow more airflow over the NZXT. Problem with the current mesh designs I have found is that, for me, aesthetically they aren't too pleasing. So I have had a look and found the following:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aero...-rgb-case-black-tempered-glass-ca-21f-ae.html

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/kolink-castle-midi-tower-case-black-ca-03s-kk.html

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/zalman-z7-neo-midi-tower-case-black-ca-09p-za.html

Thoughts?

Edit - Also looking for thoughts on a 3070 since the prices are near same as a 2070 super?

Do you want rgb ?

Love the look of the aerocool and well vented.

Koolink castle is vented at the top but you would still needs to add more fans at the front.

Zalaman case is well vented but it's silver/grey on the inside, look at image 6.

If you like rgb the aerocool would be my choice.

Hold fire on the gpu and wait for the 3070.
Not too fussed about RGB tbh, although I do like the look of the RGB in that case in particular. I like very simplistic designs perosnally, hence why the NZXT was ideal for me.

In terms of the 3070, is it worth waiting for October release and then deciding on GPU due to more releases?
