Hi

I have my current machine (as in spec) and the company whom Im working for have offered to pay for an upgrade to my machine to the value of £350, I do a fair load of intensive image and video rendering and I work on the machine as a programmer and developer for client server systems (eg php, asp, java), the machine is also heavily used for gaming hence the graphics card, however Im unsure what part to upgrade.

I was tempted and still am by a second pair of dominator sticks taking me up to 4gb of memory and a copy of Windows Vista, what do you suggest?

Thanks
Mike

4gb and Vista sounds like a fair upgrade to me although I'd check what driver support and indeed program support for any specialist programs you use is like before committing. I can't see anything else obvious that you could do for £350 apart from possibly getting another hard drive. :)

As always, I agree with semi-pro waster. Any money left over could get you a new keyboard and mouse, too.

Hi

Thats a fair point about the keyboard and mouse, my keyboard is currently a £5 cheap jobby although I do have a Razer Viper mouse which I love to bits, have been tempted by the new deathadda offering from razer.

A secondary hdd would really be pointless for me, Im currently only using 10gb of space on the raptor as ive only ever got one project on the machine at anyone time, its then transfered and stored on network storage devices that have large SCSI setups.

I think Im going to get the memory, vista and a decent keyboard, unless anyone else has anything to add? recommendations on keyboard?

Thanks
Mike

Those Razer keyboards are looking extremely nice atm. I wouldn't just consider them gaming equipment, as they are generally very responsive and really pleasurable to use.
