Hi, I am into gaming on my PC and my
current PC has this spec:

6750 duo 2 @ 3ghz (on the stock fan)
2gb Ram, 800mhz, 5-5-5-12 Timings
1950pro 512gb graphics card
500W psu
Windows XP Pro

I am thinking of upgrading my PC's ram / graphics card and operating system for the up and coming games out in the next month or two e.g far cry 2 / stalker 2. Plus getting crysis to play with higher frame rate and graphics.

Is Vista Vista Home Premium SP1 64-Bit a good option to switch over to for gaming or stick with XP? (confused by the 32bit and 64bit vista's)

Should i an extra 2 x 1gb ram sticks to take me to 4 x 1gb. Or is it best to get 2 x 2gb?

Graphics card considering was also was ATI's HD 3870 XT or 4870. Interested in the best card for no more than around £170 that will last for a while. I do perfer ATI cards.

My PC case is not massive so think these cards will be ok to fit. I know the 8800 GTX will not.

Any feedback will be greatful.

i'd stick with xp, get 2x1gb memory.

you dont say when make u're psu is or case, i'd go for the 4850 gfx card or save a bit extra as the 4870 (if it will fit) can be had for just under £200.

get an after market cooler for you're processor, like the artic cooler.

another 2 sticks of the ram you got.

And if your case is small you might have a problem since 4850/4870 are same size as the GTX im afraid. But should do with some work on cable managment ;).

Also as mp260767 have said, you could get better cooler if you aint got one yet.

Thanks for replys so far. My PC case at the mow is:

ENERMAX High tower for PC PANDORA185

Prob will do some measuring in the case before hand so I know new graphic card will fit. But better cooler for processor is good idea could prob overclock my 6750 more then (not a big fan of overclocking too much as don't want to #### my system up).

If the 4850 is just as good as the 4870 i will go with for the cheaper.
