My current system is:
Intel® Core™2 Quad Q9550 (4 X 2.83GHz) 1333MHz FSB/12MB Cache
4GB CORSAIR XMS2 800MHz
ASUS® P5N73-AM: DDR2, S-ATA II, 1 x PCI-E x16, 2 PCI, etc
Windows 7 64 bit
500GB SERIAL ATA II HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (7,200rpm)
Asus Nvidia GTX560 overclocked 850mhz 1gb.
Corsair TX650W V2
Corsair Carbide 500R.

I wanted to upgrade my RAM however found out that my motherboard does not support it. So im thinking if I have to upgrade my board i just as well upgrade the processor and thus mobo also.

I don't have a clue about motherboards so input there would be very helpful!
In my original post I was thinking of a
I5- 3570K, with ??? mobo
however now haswell is out im also thinking:
I5-4670k with MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming.

I will be mainly gaming with my computer.

Money is an issue as I have a very limited income until I qualify as a nurse in September, I have around £400ish so I am thinking of a decent upgrade with the ability to simple overclock/upgrade with bells and whistles (SSD, liquid cooling etc) when I start to get my regular salary.

Any advice would be great on what to get etc and also which RAM to purchase would be great, Corsair or Kingston?? 8gb ok or more?

Much Thanks!!

This is a great value bundle

Latest i5 Haswell CPU
Highly overclockable memory
The motherboard also comes with a decent CPU cooler which will allow you to overclock. Gigabyte is a brilliant choice imo

You have a decent graphics card and your power supply should be up to the job
Following this you should definitely invest in a SSD

If you want to have a colour scheme this this is good RAM to consider:

Corsair Vengeance Pro Blue 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (CMY8GX3M2A1600C9B) £67.99

EDIT: Review on that motherboard here.

is there a particular reason your looking to upgrade at the moment, play a game just released etc ?

if not wait til you qualify, then look again at the time.

He can afford a decent upgrade now so why not?

His current setup will be holding him back a lot in any game

no point upgrading just to "upgrade" when he has said money is an issue.

and it won't hold him back a lot in ANY game, if you specifically mean newer games, yes it will hold him back, which is why i asked if its the reason for the upgrade.

Then flog off your old mobo bundle to recoup some cash. The 560 GPU isn't great but you have overclocked it. I would look to change it around Oct. AMD should be bundling BF4 with their new GPUs then ;)

No particular reason except I've noticed slow down on some games and I got
Some money for my birthday to upgrade, also I'm selling my old mobo and processor to my father in law as his computer has died. I am going for haswell because I assume its best to considering they are the same price nearly and it is the newer chip and therefore a newer motherboard as well. Will upgrade my graphics once I qualify and so wanted a decent motherboard on which to add to. Aiming to hopefully play the new Rome total war well. Etc. thanks for your continued input!!
