Hi guys i am looking for a slight upgrade on my PC as its becoming apparent my build is slightly noisy/dusty hot and coming towards upgrade time. I am struggling to get decent frame rate out of the most modern games on high settings i.e. i need to run battlefield 4 on medium to play comfortably.

The current setup i have is as follows:

Intel core i7 2600 - Gelid GX7 High Performance Quiet PC Cooler
Foxconn H67MP-S
6gb DDR3 1333Mhz ram
MSI AMD Radeon HD 6850 Gfx card
Asus Xonar DX 7.1 Sound card
120Gb OCZ SSD
500Gb Sata HDD
Zalman z9 Case
Windows 8.1
2x 24" 1080p LED monitors
Corsair Builder Series CX 430W

I use my computer for gaming mainly, i play Eve online/fifa/battlefield 4 and a few various steam games. Id like it to be reasonably future proof but not really too bothered about 4k with its current price.

From what i can see the only things that i should really be considering upgrading are the core fundamentals of the system, The CPU/Motherboard/Ram and graphics card. The rest is fine, Although i could be persuaded to upgrade the case!..

If anyone has any suggestions id much appreciate it. Budget it anywhere from £150-£500, depending on what i would need. not really too fussed but i dont want to overkill.

The 2600 is still a very good CPU, shame its not a K edition, as i'd suggest grabbing a cheap z68 board and clocking it to hell (and add a new GPU).

As sandy is dual channel you need to sort you're RAM out. 8GB is normal now-a-days, so either 4 x 2GB or 2 x 4GB.

Two options:

1) Just upgrade your GPU and PSU (i think that'll need upgrading too) = £250

YOUR BASKET
1 x Sapphire Radeon R9 280X Dual-X OC 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Card £194.99
1 x NZXT Hale Power 90+ 550W '80 Plus Gold' Power Supply £43.99
Total : £252.48 (includes shipping : £11.25).

2)Core upgrade = £500

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus Z97-K - Devils Canyon Core i5 4690K Bundle **£14 Saving** £245.58
1 x MSI Radeon R9 280 Gaming 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £155.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17100C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLD38G2133HC11ADC01) £65.99
1 x NZXT Hale Power 90+ 550W '80 Plus Gold' Power Supply £43.99
Total : £525.65 (includes shipping : £11.75).

(use the same CPU cooler as you have).

First thing I would do, is give it a good clean out.
If the noise is from the fans, then look at getting some better and quieter ones.
Cheap option: get another matching 2GB ram module, replace Psu as Doomed mentioned. Look for a cheap secondhand GTX670.
Or, just get the Psu and a 280X, 2GB ram and a couple of fans.

Ram ( you will be losing speed in your current config ) so add another matching stick or swap to 2 x 4 gig
GPU ( an upgrade to a newer 3 gig card will improve your gaming settings) 3 gig R9 280 ( get one with a free game deal like the linked one )
PSU ( you need this to support the new GPU )
Fans... ( keeping it all cool is always a good thing ) make sure you get the right type ...
