Hi guys,

I built my computer about 5/6 years ago and haven't really needed to upgrade it since but I've hit the limit in terms of games being playable so I think I'm gonna have to upgrade most of my components. Basically I just bought Total War Atilla and it's not happy! At the moment I have:

Motherboard: Asus M3A32-MVP Delux
Processor: AMD Phenom 9950 Quad Core 2.6Ghz
RAM: 8GB
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4850 X2

I think the RAM should be OK, I just need to upgrade to 64-bit Windows so I can use all of it!

Basically I don't want a new motherboard if I can help it, so I was just thinkinking a new processor and graphics card.

So my questions are:

Will 64 bit Windows 7 work with that motherboard?

What would be a good new processor to get which would work with my motherboard?

It looks like theres another graphics card slot on the motherboard (the current graphics card is in a blue slot and there's another one of those) so should I get another graphics card to have two (my current one had crossfire, which I think meant you can have two of them working together no?) or just have one new one?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Your RAM is DDR2 and this is just not used anymore on modern boards.

The CPU support list for your board is here - http://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/M3A32MVP_DeluxeWiFiAP/HelpDesk_CPU/ - as you can see they are all old CPUs so you will have to change the board to support a newer more powerful CPU.

I think its time tom make some major changes to your system and start from scratch unless you dont have the budget for a complete overhaul?

Yes it will.

Dpeends if you can find a suitable card that can be crossfired with it.

What PSU do you have, what case, drives (SATA or IDE) etc do you have?
