Hi all,

Am looking to upgrade my current pc, but want to do it on a budget. The current spec is

I5-2320 Sandybridge @ 3.0ghz
Gigabyte H61M-S2PV board
8GB DDR3 665mhz
450GB Seagte HD
1TB External HD
GTX 550ti
Coarsair 450w PSU

Looking to spend maybe £500, so was thinking would a GTX970, SSD and better ram do the job or would my motherboard and processor need doing as well ?

Many just use it for gaming ( like Fallout 4 ) but am having to run low settings on a lot of stuff.

Any advice kindly appreciated..

My advice would be to get the GTX 970 and a new PSU first, then an SSD/ CPU/ motherboard in that order. Whilst I think you'll probably be okay with that 450 watt PSU, you're going to be pushing it right to its limits with a GTX 970. I certainly wouldn't be comfortable with leaving such little power headroom for my system.

A GTX970 will not push a 450w psu to the limits if it's a decent PSU.

His system would draw about 300w under load, plenty of headroom.

The CPU is still pretty OK, it's the graphics card is the major bottleneck.

SSD would definitely be a good buy too.
