Hi

Thanks to those giving me advice before, but after a few emails i have finally found out that my current watercooled set-up with D-Tek CPU block might still work with a new motherboard
(at first i thought i might need new cpu blocks, but now found out they have made fitting kits, soon to be released in UK)

Question i have is this,

I hear about new AMD cpu but wondering whether it is worth waiting for?

Currently i was going to go with this.
Mobo:

But i hear MSI are pretty poor quality from people i spoken too, so tempted to go with a asus one instead.

Then i was going for a I5 CPU
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-368-IN
then some DDR3 ram
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-203-CS

then a 6870 graphics. cant see the point in paying the extra for 560Ti tbh.

comes to £476.94 not incl deliv

But with the new tech coming out now i wondering what i should do, carry on with plan? or wait?

p.s what do i do with all my old "shi", is it even worth anything, given my mate built my PC and so i dont have all the old boxs ect that they came in.....

help welcome as useal.:D

Do you have a heatsink that fits socket 1156/55? if not you need a cooler or the Retail version of the CPU.

Why not get a Z68 board so you get SSD caching, lucid Virtu and Quicksync?

This board does all that, plus it does 8X/8X multi gpu setup, the ASUS board you linked to only does 16X/4X.

What do you have? need to see if its worth the upgrade?

What PSU do you have?

Are your drives SATA or IDE?

sorry for noob reply but half of what you said made no sense to me:rolleyes:

whats wrong with the Asus board then? also i have no idea what the above means except SSD.
p.s i plan to only have 1 graphics card max 2 in furtre maybe.

my current PSU is corsair 650W,

my CPU is currently watercooled so this is why i am glad they are now making a adaptor for 1155/1156 boards so that i dont need to buy a new CPU watercool block and can use my current 775 one with the adaptor kit.

but like i said, is it worth waiting or is my current set-up good?

do you have a particular need to upgrade at the mo, if not then wait for the new amd release.

if /when you upgrade put your stuff onto the members market.

the main reson to upgrade would be so that i can start playing the new games that are coming onto market like BF3 ect.

out of interest though is the new AMD worth the wait?

main thing was, is it worth wait and if so how much is it looking to be compared to I5

if your looking to gaming then you should be fine the 2500K.

don't think anyone can give a reliable answer on that.
