hi all , just some advice on whether upgrading from an Athlon XP3000+ to an AMD Athlon 64 3700 san diego would be a worthwhile step or is even this considered " dated " now, money is an issue so i would be looking to keep my ram and AGP card for now , so if this would tide me over for say , a year or so ,that would be ok. will be used for mainly for games and all the other typical stuff really . and if anyone has any advice or knowledge of this motherboard it would be helpfull
thanks in advance

That board allows you to re use your memory (is it ddr400?) and graphics card so all you need is the mobo and cpu, maybe cpu cooler if you go OEM on the cpu.

cheers guys , sounds like the ideal solution for me , the Athlon64 3700 still a half decent cpu if you cant afford the conroe or similar ??

I upgrade from a 2600 to a 3700, keeping my old stuff, and bought that board.
Have recently upgraded from my 9800pro to a 7600gt.

Unless you actually NEED dual core, pocket the cash mate. I have kids to think about, so I cant just buy dual core because 'im getting with the times' when I dont do anything to justify the 2nd core.... And to be honest, how many people with dual cores, do THAT much premiere work anyway...

I advised my m8 to get a dual core, because, he does require dual core... He previously had an old P4 2.5ghz... He got a 3800 x2 skt 939. Yeah, I could have said "go conroe dude, its with the times". But why would he want to spend another couple of hundred £££ to upgrade... He would have been better off buying a new machine from SMELL instead, and flogging his.

The price is cheap enough now for the 3700...

BTW, Premiere Pro 2 wont run on your XP3000.... So get with the times and get an athlon 64 4800+ or a 64 X2 8000+(lol) pwned
