Hey Guys/Gals,

After a little advice on what I could invest in to make my current rig, both better and hopefully a little more future proof so it won't cost me a bomb to upgrade in the future...

I'm not really up to speed with current technologies, i.e. X2 processors so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Current Rig Spec:

In Sig, but it's a little small so:-

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego
Asus A8N-SLi Premium PCI-E - Mobo
WD Caviar SE 200GB
Lian-Li PC-7 - Case
Hiper Modular 580 -PSU
2GB Corsair XMS3200 CAS2
Leadtek GeForce 6800 GT 256MB PCI-E

Cheers.

Ah right,

Well at the moment I use to to play a few games, Settlers, CSS, DAoC. Hopefully WAROnline when that's released next year too.

Apart from gaming and the odd bash in Photoshop, not much more.

I don't mind having to save a little to get a few bits if it's all bad news for me, but still all help appreciated.

Cheers.

Ah ok that sounds like a good idea. I was contemplating attempting to overclock the rig, but I was a little worried I would do something wrong hehe.

For example then, if I were to buy the X1800XT and a...,

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ (Socket 939) - Retail

Would that be as easy as it slotting right in, or am I getting a little confused?

Cheers.

Well that sounds easy enough then, I will also print off the overclocking guide and see how ambitious I am feeling later this evening hehe.

Thanks for the help.

Hey guys,

Got myself about £300 to upgrade my rig a little, as discussed in this topic I was going to stump for:

1) Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £135 Or maybe a X1900 on T.W.O.

Or did you guys mean the 512MB option?

2) AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ (Socket 939) - Retail - £158

Would that be the best idea for an upgrade for myself, baring in mind I'm going to hopefully be playing a few machine heaver MMO's come christmas.

Cheers.
