Hi guys, been a long time OcUK customer but a new forum member!

Currently running

A64 San Diego 3700+ @ 290x10
DFI Lanparty Ultra-D
2x512MB OCZ EL3200
X800 Pro
Enermax 600W Noisetaker

With exception of the PSU, the whole lot needs an upgrade. Plan is

Core 2 Duo E4300
Asus P5W Deluxe
2GB DDR2 (need advice here)
8800 GTS 320MB

Does this sound ok? Budget is flexible, I'd say around £800 initially. I will continue using my current watercooling system. Never used DDR2 before so not sure what I'll need. Are the C2D chips multi locked? Obviously would like to hit 3 GHz+ on the CPU like everyone else is.

Thanks chaps

Hi there and welcome to the forums :)

Sounds like a good selection to me, I would recommend choosing some GeIL 6400 800MHz RAM for that setup. Excellent stuff, nice low latencies and highly overclockable.

get the e6300 cpu and asus 650i board. as for ram, dont get the geil, a lot of ppl like me had very bad experiences with it. if you can afford get the team xtreem ram.

Hmmm, well on the AMD platform RAM was always a gamble but the problem was eased when they moved the memory controller onto the chip with the A64.

Basically I need RAM with enough headroom to raise the FSB, but not so much that the latencies get hammered. How are the 975 chipsets with memory types in general?
