Upgrade advice.....

Currently running a old school P4 3.2 with 2gb DDR2 (4x512) and a 8800GTS 320mb, but my motherboard is starting to die and it took me 30 mins to boot into windows today.

First of all would I see a difference between my 3.2 old style p4 and a E2180?

Been awhile since i kept up with the new hardware scene and I thought this may be the time to upgrade the cpu but not really sure how the new chips compare.

Currently newer games seem to struggle. I presume the cpu is holding me back.

Also is the IP35 a decent mobo to combine it with? looking to nip to ocuk this afternoon.

The E2180 will about twice as fast as your p4 3.2, due to a more efficient core architcture, 2 cores instead of 1, even though the Mhz speed is less, should be able to run the latest games. combine this with the ip 35 and your 8800 GTS and you've got a nice setup.

Thanks for the reply.... really am clueless on these newer chips, so much so its shameful. I guess it would run fine from a 500w enermax psu?
