Hey Chaps.

I'm looking at spending £300 notes max on a complete new baseunit.

I do a lot of video encoding, graphic editing, and a lot of multimedia including gaming but not essential to own a good graphics card just yet as i'm not looking at gaming at this present time, integrated graphics would be fine for what i'd need.

Any advice, specifications and costs would be appricaited.

Unfortunatly not it isn't my PC to rip apart to use, I've had a good look to see what I can get for £300 notes and i've got a good idea on what I can get so far, just need further advice.

I'm not looking at overclocking to be honest, AMD would probably be my approach if anything may add a DX10 card later on to play world in conflict but that would probably be as far as i'd go for gaming as my X360 will do what I need for my gaming needs.

Very interesting specifications, would like to keep these though rather than lower or higher them don't need more than 250GB and the case i'd see me keeping for awhile so rather splash out on a decent case.

Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (WD2500AAKS) £36.99
(£43.46) £36.99
Antec Sonata Designer Quiet Case - EarthWatts 500W PSU £73.99
(£86.94) £73.99

Would like to keep the above.

At the moment not running anything, looking to get a decent PC for myself.

Only looking for a baseunit, no keyboard & mouse, no monitor or operating systems.

Going to stick at these components.

Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (WD2500AAKS).
(£43.46) £36.99.
NEC AD7170S Serial ATA 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Silver) - OEM.
(£18.79) £15.99.
Antec Sonata Designer Quiet Case - EarthWatts 500W PSU.
(£86.94) £73.99.

The rest is down to a decent motherboard, memory and cpu then. Good to see a lot of options open as well as eventually i'll be adding a good graphics card only want to play World In Conflict later on not in any rush that's why I only need integrated graphics for the time being.

I think the Intel option maybe my goal here, not a fan of GeIL memory to be honest everytime i've purchased this brand never had any luck with them, unless they've improved since then that is.

Stuck for choices now on the three main components. 2 GB memory is what i want but want to get the best cpu and motherboard for my money that will last me awhile down the line.

EDIT: I'm not an overclocker though, may consider it later on.

Is the Gigabyte a decent motherboard? will it handle future processors like the quad cores etc? Will probably go for the GeIL memory if it's highly recommended.

I can see me going for the specifications you've recommended me as it seems AMD is now but gone by the majority of peeps here.
