Looking for a bit of advice really.

My current system is:

e6400 core 2 duo
2gb corsair xms2 6400C5 ram
asus p5w dh deluxe motherboard
xfx 7600 GT graphics card
thermaltake tsunami case
hiper modular 500w psu

I'm looking to upgrade and wondering what i could get for around £500 to make this better?

Been looking at E850 cpu, ATI 4870 cards but not sure what else or any other improvements can be made

Either that or just go for a whole new rig with £600 budget.

Ideas appreciated

Looks like a pretty damn good rig to me mate. Maybe consider a 4870, a new graphics card is pretty much all you could do with, and maybe say an E8400? It that means sticking away £300+ of the budget, do so and wait for the new Intel CPU's ;)

Something like this?

Is your Mobo PCI-E 1.0 or 1.1 (due to the new GPU being PCI-E 2.0).

Also if you aim to OC that CPU, use 120mm Cooling the 90mm wont cut it and its loudish at 100% fan speed.

So you're gonna replace the 2gb memory and put that 4gb in there huh? I take it you'll be overclocking too with the 8500 stuff?
