Ok. My current specs are:
Asus Rampage Formula
Q6600 @ stock
Inno3d 8800GT.
Acer G24 (1920x1200)

I mainly play cod4, and have been looking at upgrading for a while.
One minute i think I'll buy a 4870X2, next a 1GB 4870, then a 260 then a 295.

I can't make up my mind. I don't want to buy a card for the sake of it. I just want the best value for money.

Some help on my decision would be great

Thanks in advance

No point in buying a faster card without overclocking that CPU. Clock it to 3.3 or higher if you can.

Best value for money card is probably the 4870 1GB. I have a 4870X2, and I love it, but it's not a price/performance card :D

+1

The 4870 1GB is the best price/performance card, whereas the 295 will be the worst price/performance.
1. 4870 1GB
2. 4870x2
3. GTX260
4. GTX295

I would definately say the 4870x2 if you can afford it.
the 48701gb is very good but it wouldnt be able to handle that sorta res on high settings.

Or what about a gtx 280?
Well worth it if you can pick one up cheap, i just got myself one for £249.

Depends on which game my friend, some games are more then capable of running at max settings on 4870 1GB.

What kind of games are you playing?

Aye, i just said this on another thread:

"no matter which 2 competing ATI and Nvidia cards you put against each other 1 will always be better at some games than the other and vice versa.
I would say the 4850 but if the 9800gtx performs better in games that appeal to you more go for that.
Its preference really"
