Upgrade advice

Its for a friend, he basically wants the ability to play games. Nothing uber sexy looking... but he pretty much can't play **** at the moment.

I'm not sure about budget, but he wanted to buy an $89 9400GT, PCI card.
I'd say I could probably persuede him to have a $150 dollar budget.
Whats the best CPU he could stick in that?

He really doesn't have a lot of scope for upgrade to be honest, it's an ancient machine with integrated graphics and no pci-e or agp slot for a graphics card. Upgrading the processor is going to give marginal gains in a best case scenario and the same goes for the RAM in the system. Your friend is pretty much screwed without a larger budget.

I did think as much... but he seems determined to do something to it.
I think the 9400 would be a huge waste.

I'll go slap him now and tell him never to buy a dell ever again.
