Hi everyone,
I'm just looking for some quick upgrade advice. My current specs are as follows:
Intel Core 2 E8400 @ 3.00Ghz (stock speed with stock Intel CPU HSF)
Asus P5k-e Wi-fi
Asus GTX 260 TOP
4GB Kingston DDR2 8500 (currently running 2GB Corsair DDR2 6400 due to RMA)
500GB Seagate Barracuda
520W Corsair Modular Power Supply
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Both the memory and GPU are recent upgrades, although I haven't even tested the memory yet due to it being returned so I have no idea what kind of performance boost it would have given me.
What I'm really wanting to do is upgrade my processor. I think it's time I went quad core. However I can't decide how to go about doing this. I could just buy another Core 2 but I quad one this time (something like a Q9550) as this would mean I could stick with the same motherboard. Or I was thinking of spending a little bit more and buying an i5-750, new mobo and new DDR3, but I don't know if it would be worth it! Which option would be best? Or would there be an even better alternative that I haven't thought of?
Just in case the info's necessary, the main use of my comp is gaming.
Thanks
