I'm looking to upgrade my current pc, i have a budget of about £500 (I can go slightly over) and I'm looking to upgrade my cpu, ram and mobo

In the last couple of years I've really got into 3D and Motion graphics and im always rendering something out of cinema4d or doing some post work in After Effects, and my q6600 and 4gb of ddr2 is starting to struggle a bit (render times aren't great, c4d sometimes hits 100% memory usage) - I would love a performance boost, so initially im thinking an i5/i7 and 6gb/8gb of ddr3 (but im open to any other suggestions, budget willing)

I was thinking along the lines of;

also the cheapest krypton bundle looked ok to me, but I'm really not that up to speed with the latest stuff - would one of the i5 bundles still give me the performance boost i seek?

If anyone could suggest what the best components I could get for my budget would be, that would be real nice.

thanks

The bundles are good value for money, they don't come with a PSU or GPU though. The bundle Shadz posted is very good, the i5-750 is a real quad-core, not dual core with hyperthreading like the 670.

If you're using Cinema 4D a lot you might want to consider the AMD 6 core chips:

I would try my best to get an i7 option if I were you. I'm sure it would perform better but will definintely last longer. I am sure if you have find an i7 920 (prolly for around £180) 6GB of nice RAM (PC12800 I'd choose) and deffo 6GB not 8GB which should come in around £130 and either a Gigabyte or Asus mobo for around £150. That could come in slightly less than £500 which would allow a little for a CPU cooler.
