Hi Folks, been a while since I built the PC below. I'm now considering upgrading.

<current pc spec>
MSI Geforce 260 GTX 896MB / Intel Core2 Q6600 @ 3.4Ghz cooled by Zalman CNPS9900-LED / Asus P5Q SE/R Motherboard / 8GB Corsair DDR2 800 / 2 Samsung F1 1tb 32mb cache drive in raid 0 /3X Samsung F1 1tb 32mb cache in raid 5 for storage/
Liteon DVD RW / Creative XFI Gamer / Coolermaster HAF 932/Corsair TX950 Watt PSU/ BenQ G2420HD Monitor / Saitek GM 3200 Mouse /
Saitek Eclipse II / Windows 7 Ultimate
</current pc spec>

My main uses are as follows:

Gaming - I'm more occasional gamer these days so I would like a great experiance when I do play. I mainly play FPS/RPG types.
I don't often play online, I prefer Single player story driven games so fancy NICs aren't required.
Although I'm REALLY looking forward to Star Wars : The Old Republic..

Storage - I keep a load of DVD/Blueray/Video files to stream to my Media PC.
Virtual Machines - Often I need to have a few virtual machines running for testing various server os/apps.

I was thinking of upgrading to I7, but I understand I will need to dump my existing board/RAM and go for DDR3.

I have a budget of about £600 for a motherboard/ram/cpu and graphics card. and/or anything else that I may need. I hope that nothing else I have will be a bottleneck for any new componants?

What would the suggested upgrade path be? I'm open to either AMD/Intel, likewise with Nvidia/ATI.

Thanks
