I currently have the XFX ATI Radeon HD 4870 XXX 1024MB and although I have no problems with it, I'm possibly thinking about upgrading, I'm not fussed about brand loyalty I just want to get the best boost I can for the money, and am not fussed about price at the moment either.

So what would you guys suggest? Throwing another card in crossfire or going for a newer card? Either way I want something that will do for another year or two atleast...

Right let me predict answers:

Wait for the 6870!

Save you cash 6 series is just around the corner...etc

Me I would ...and I hate to say it, wait.
Even if the 6 series doesn't float your boat, the price drop to the other cards will.

I have the coolermaster real power 620w modular and a foxconn renaissance mobo I'm not concerned with price at the moment just what represents overall best value for money

best value would be a 768mb 460, however to get the decent boost that youre after Id say a 470 is prob best bet
Edit: forgot you already have 4870 and xfire is an option, thats prob best bet value for money wise in fact, gonna give you similar performance to getting a 470 at about 1/3 the price, the drawbacks would be higher power draw, any xfire issues (microstutter etc) and lower minimum fps
4870x2 vs 470 The 4870x2 should be bout same as 4870 CF which isnt an option on the bench

As redshadows says, with the 6 series around the corner there will be significant price drops, and possibly a new series with better performance for the price than todays cards.

I would think that the 4870 should be fast enough to last that little bit longer :)
If you can't wait, GTX480s for £340, GTX470s for £230 and HD5870 for £280 are all great deals and significant performance upgrades.

4870 is a very good card... even for modern games they should be fine and as you said you have no problems.. this could be one of those "if it isn't broke don't fix it". However what i would say is see if you can find another 4870 relatively cheap (bargain) if not then wait for 6870's like others have recommended, didnt mean to sound harsh or anything just giving advice :)
