Hi everyone, this is my first post so be kind ;).

My current system is : OCZ ModXStream Pro 600w PSU, Antec 300, XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 XT 1024MB, Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C5, Asrock ALiveSATA2-GLAN (done surprisingly well seeing as it cost me £35 nearly 3 years ago),Samsung SM226BW, Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB (just started making some rather worrying noises) and AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ 3.00GHz.

I mainly play WoW, tf2, sc2 and would be using a new rig for gaming.

Budget is £600 and I would like a 24" 1080p monitor.

I was thinking of getting:

I have a feeling that the 4890 might not be upto the job and I may have to the drop the monitor and wait to see what the 560s can do. What do you guys think ?

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to give as much info as I could :)

Hi and welcome to forums

That looks good spec, the 4890s are still quite good cards, running them myself still, though in xfire, should be a nice little upgrade, you can lways up the gfx in a coupla months if it is still struggling but I doubt much will

Looks good, nothing wrong with that. Will be a great upgrade :)

With those games the 4890 will be enough even at 1920x1080.

Thanks guys. I was not too sure on the 4890, but it seems it actually performs very well for a card I bought a year and a half ago and cost me £122 ex vat (great deal from ocuk).

Not sure how accurate this is

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/175?vs=156

but it puts my 4890 just behind a gtx 460 768MB (although the gtx 460 is not so loud, uses less power and is direct x 11 capable, but not sure thats worth an extra £120).

HD4890 will be more than powerful enough to max your games on 1080p - especially seeing as those games are all CPU intensive :p

I think its decided that I shall keep the HD4890 for now.

I'm so tempted to order now, but I think I shall wait till the i5-2500k drops back down to the £180 mark. Although if ocuk stocked the Asrock Extreme 4 I'd order now... hint hint ;).
