Hello

Currently thinking about by next upgrade/new build and after some advice.

My current system is(old):
Mobo: Asus P5K-E
PSU: Corsairs HX520W
CPU: Q6600 @ 3.0Ghz
HD: 500GB western digital (I think)
GPU: GTX 260
RAM: 4x1gb DDR1 800Mhz

I originally built it ~4 years ago with an 8800GT in place of the GTX 260.

I'm considering doing a slow upgrade starting with PSU, GPU and an SSD but I don't know a great deal about compatability and bottlenecking.

Currently looking at:
GTX 580
Corsair AX1200W
OCZ 120gb SSD

With the intention of upgrading the rest of the rig this time next year

My questions are:
How much of a bottleneck will my CPU/RAM cause for the GPU?

Is the corsair PSU worth the premium? I know that its amazingly efficient even at low loads and could probably last me forever, I do intend eventually on going SLI but is that much power necessary?

Can my mobo support an SSD drive?

Is it worth waiting for the next generation of GPUs/CPUs?

Anything else worth mentioning

Thanks for your time :)

1) you will have some bottleneck, but you are at 3GHZ so that certainly helps:)

2) up to you, but a 850w PSU will be plenty, and even if you add a second in SLI, stick to Corsair, XFX, Coolermaster GOLD even the new OCZ ZX PSU are good.

3) yes.

4) AMD bulldozer is out next month, Sandybridge 2500K is fast as it is anyway, Ivy bridge and Sandy bridge-E are very end of this year.

Currently 1920x1200, but I also plan on getting a 3D 1920x1080 monitor in the near future.

I've not exactly got my heart set on a 580, by the looks of it the 480 performs very well comparatively for ~£100 less. It's more of a case of wanting the best than needing it :P But Still no point in spending more than I have to if it won't change anything.
