Hello all, after some perspective on an upgrade...

I bought a 2nd 460 1GB this week for some SLi awesomeness however because of my case being small (FT03) the 2nd card was not getting enough airflow and I was unable to use my soundcard.

Bit of a bugger having to sell the card on already but what would you do? Just buy a different card or wait for the new ATI stuff coming next year?

Would like to hear some opinions please :)

It's not just the case which is too small for SLI'd GTX 460's and your sound card.

You'd need to upgrade to an ATX motherboard with the GPU PCI-E slots spaced out better and room for your sound card.

It's an expensive option.

Buy a new case with better air flow then take advantage of the SLI performance.

2 460's is around the power of a 580"ish"

Yeah, great performance but I like my case having recently downsized from ATX.

Indeed, I think its time for a more powerful single card. But which one to choose! :p

I would go for either a GTX560Ti or 6950.

These cards will give brilliant performance. The 6950 is minimum £195 but has blistering performance for the money and the GTX560Ti can be bought for a minimum of £174.

If you can't afford one of these, get the next best card which is the 6870 and you can get one of these for around £130 now.

CinderzFTW,

Yeah its now just a question of how much do I want to spend really. I am tempted to buy a 580 but might just get 6970 (or a 6950 and unlock it?) and save the cash for the new cards coming soon.

Erm, only a select few 6950's will now unlock, and even the ones that people have unlocked, some of them might not unlock anyway, so you will be taking a gamble on the 6950, but I have heard the TOXIC 2GB version does unlock in most cases.

A 580 would be the best overall buy, as it is the world's fastest single core GPU out at the moment and would last you years, but it is near 350/400 for one! Too much money.

I would go for the 6950 and see if you can unlock it, if not overclock the card to 6970 speeds which can be done quite easy with the right software and a lot of patience.

I would say around £200-220 is the max I would pay for a card at the moment.
