Hi

I'm looking to rebuild my current pc over the next few months but not sure what to do first.

These are the components I was thinking of getting:

i5 2500k
Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Intel Z68
Kingston Hyperx Genesis Ram
Noctua NH-D14
NZXT Phantom Enthusiast (red/white)

Depending on which order I do it, 7970 if I order the GPU first or I'll see what Kepler brings if ordered last.

My current GPU is running at stock speeds and is hitting 81c when playing BF3. My case isn't the biggest and the gpu is a bit squashed between the psu and mobo, so I was thinking of getting the NZXT first. I'm not sure if I should get the cpu/mobo/ram or gpu, I want to be able to play BF3 on ultra so I was leaning towards getting a 7970 next.

My current psu is an Antec 620W, would this be enough to power an i5 2500k and 7970?

What would be the best order to purchase everything in?

Cheers

Get the board first while its on offer (till Wednesday)

Get the case/RAM

Get the cooler (but....while the Noctua maybe the best heatsink on the market, its a bit OTT for the boards overclocking ability)

Then the CPU as Ivybridge might be out by then;) anf the GFX card.

as stulid says get the board now as its on offer, n wait to ivybridge as its due soon.

they are all good parts u've choosen.
your psu will be powerfull enough

Wouldn't it be pointless getting the mobo now? I have a AMD Phenom so it wouldn't fit lol It's only a £7 difference so I don't mind waiting for that, will Ivybridge be out soon? From what I read, there won't be a big performance upgrade.

Well you did ask for an order in which to buy stuff, so you would still have to wait till everythings together to get it working.

Also can I ask whats wrong with the rig in your sig then? is it really incapable of doing what you want from it? why not wait till theres a CPU worth switching to that will give a more meaningful boost.

I was hoping to upgrade each component when I had the money i.e new case, so transfer my current components then upgrade when I get a new cpu/mobo etc.

Do you think I could play BF3 on ultra at 50-60 fps with my current components but a new case for cooling and a 7970?
