Hi guys
Recently had an epic fail with upgrading memory on my system and turned out that the memory that I bought was incompatible lol
Anyway looking for advice on where to start upgrading my system as I recon more memory isnt the only thing that I could do.
Currently have:

Processor: AMD Phenom IIx4 B50 3.1MHZ (unlocked to 4 cores and 1.3000V)
Motherboard: Asus M4A77TD-PRO
Cooler: Akasa AK-CC017V2 Freedom tower CPU cooler (Socket AM3)
Graphics: Sapphire Radeon HD 5770
Memory: Corsair Dominator XMS3 2x2GB
PSU: Antec 550W modular
Case: Antec 300
Hard disk: Samsung spinpoint 500GB
Budget: around a max of £300

Mostly play Skyrim and League of Legends, been noticing that I am getting slowdown nowadays since I use HDMI and 1080p on the monitor especially when having multiple tabs open.
Wondering what a good start would be and wether it is better to just get an overclocked bundle perhaps?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Thanks, was just worried about a bottleneck as not sure if that processor would do the card you suggested justice. Guess I could try my hand at overclocking it :)

It's your GPU more than anything letting you down. Phusions suggestions are quite good, I'll offer a couple of alternatives. Personally i prefer the Coolermaster 612S over the Matterhorn but it's currently out of stock.

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI HD 7850 Power Edition Twin Frozr IV OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card w/ Nexuiz & Dirt Showdown PC Games £167.99
1 x Intel 330 Series 60GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive - Retail £53.99
1 x GeIL Black Dragon 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GD38GB1600C11DC) £35.99
1 x Thermalright True Spirit 120 CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/1155/1156/AM2/AM3/FM1) £24.98
Total : £294.35 (includes shipping : £9.50).

N.B at 100 posts you qualify for free P&P :D

Thanks again
If I were to stretch my budget a bit what processor would you suggest? was looking at the Buldozer FX-8 core but not really up to speed on whats what atm

Thanks for the advice will look into getting these at some point :)

I wouldn't bother. The G840 is on par with your setup as a dual core but you have unlocked it to a quadcore. Yes the intel setup uses less power but the upgrade (read downgrade) is false economy in my eyes. You need an i5K and a Z77 mobo to see any real difference.

Your dominator RAM is high profile so it can be tricky to get heatsinks over them, hence us suggesting low profile RAM like the Geil kit. The stand nvidia 660 should land next month, might want to wait and see what that's like for the price before you buy.

Thanks again for the input :)
At the moment don't think I can afford to spend £400 straight off the bat and will probs buy 1 or 2 items at a time. Am I right in thinking it would be motherboard and processor first over anything else? Or graphics card and SSD?

I would just get something like this for now. Then save another £200 and get Cpu and mobo.

Thanks :) will probably start with these then. Just hoping I don't have a nightmare with memory not working again :/ have a thread in the memory section about that so a little paranoid about it with my current board lol

Yeah mate tried them too. Also tried 1 and 4, 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 just to see if there was any chance for it to work lol. Tried using 1 stick in each of the slots to see if there was a faulty stick but same results as before.
