upgrade advice

Ive just got my hands on a Sony Vaio F23P1E Quad core i7 2670QM, 6GB DDR3, With a Nvidia GT540m... Runs stuff ok tbh, I am wondering if its worth trying to get a 3rd gen i7 and GT650m say like whats in an inspiron17r SE? Or will there be minimal gains for the time and effort to sell and buy?

Playing borderlands2 and WoW on it btw, perhaps i am expecting to much in the way of eye candy from the laptop...

Anyone with a 17r se, could you post your passmark score please. Ill have small gains on the CPU me thinks but considerable gains on the GFX?

You can't upgrade from 2nd gen I7 to 3rd gen.

You can't upgrade the graphics on a machine without an MXM slot. Anything below a GTX660M/560M in their respective generations is not MXM and even those chips can be soldered on.

I meant upgrade in the way of selling the current laptop to buy say an 17r se.

540M to 650M would be a decent jump yes.
