Hey guys,

well it has been over 2 years since my last cpu/mobo/ram upgrade and i was wondering if there is any point in upgrading my system now or not.

Running an i7 950 @ 3.2 Ghz these days (some problem with cooling so not 4Ghz)

12 Gb of 1600 MHz ram

7970 gpu

Asus P6X58D-E mobo.

I guess i could upgrade my HDDs to SSDs.

gaming wise, i have yet to really see something that makes my system struggle. The latest game i played was Tomb raider, and it ran maxed out with no problems.

In terms of CPUs, i am interested in trying an AMD variant in my next upgrade cycle, anybody know which processor would be an upgrade from i7950?

Any suggestions? :D

Thanks.

Thanks, i was thinking pretty much on the lines. Budget i would say would be best bang for the buck. I usually upgrade with overclocking in mind so anything that can get me a worthy upgrade really. In the past i have spent around £500 on just cpu motherboard and ram.
