I currently have an i7 system complete with 4gb of ram that i's like to upgrade as it's one of the origional i7's and i've had it a good few years now, i upgraded the GF card to a Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-X about 6 months ago and the 650w PSU, case, 1TB HD and optical drive are all fine and don't need replacing.......

So i guess that leaves me only looking for advice on an overclocked bundle and a fairly large SSD

The PC is mainly used for gaming and my plan is to spend under a £1000 on the upgrade

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Do you want an overclocked bundle (like you suggested) or would you be happy to build it and overclock it yourself?

What case do you have? (need to know for size of motherboard and CPU cooler clearance).

Well after installing Wife V1.0 and Kids V2.0 i've found that i no longer have the time to mess around with overclocking, i'm also a bit out of touch with the latest components so a pre built overclocked bundle would be the prefered option.

As for the case i can't remember off the top of my head what make it is but it's an absolute monster of a case, it currently has a full size ATX mobo and the CPU cooler is huge, also the sapphire GF card fitted no problem so i don't think space will be an issue

Edit*

Just had a look through my OC order history and the case is a Cooler Master ATCS 840 Classic Case
The PSU is an XFX 850W XXX Edition Modular '80 Plus Silver'
HDD is a Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ / ST1000DM005)

As far as i'm concerned all of the above will be fine for another few years

Thank, just noticed..

This'll work..

YOUR BASKET
1 x Samsung 250GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE250BW) £149.99
1 x "Quantum i7" Intel i7 4770K @ up to 4.5GHz Configurable Gaming PC Bundle £94.98
- 1 x TeamGroup Vulcan RED 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-17100C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLD316G2133HC11ADC01) £129.95
- 1 x Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £163.99
- 1 x Intel 4770K Grade 1 Binned - 45 £372.00
- 1 x Standard Build Systems - Approximately 5-7 working days £0.00
Total : £928.91 (includes shipping : £15.00).

I've configured it for a Red/silver colour scheme, the other options are Orange or Yellow..

The UD4H is my favourite motherboard of the Z87 series, because of its looks and its reviews.

This is at the top end of your budget though.. But it's worth it if you're happy.. :)

The £95 is the cost of overclocking it to 4.5ghz. :)

Ok thanks for that !
I looked at upgrading around the time i bought the GF card and the advice at the time for a gaming system all seemed to be based around a Z77 i5 CPU, i'm guessing things have moved onto the Z87 i7 Haswell CPU's now, also i dont really recognise the TeamGroup comapny name for the ram, is this recommended or is it just the only choice you have for an overclockers bundle these days ? might well throw another £100 at it and get a 500gb SSD as i'd like to have my steam folder on it and it's a fair size at the moment, can you see any reason not to do this considering money is not really an issue ?

Haswell is the new Ivybridge. :)

Teamgroup make some pretty good RAM, i've not heard anything bad about them, and OCUK tend to use them a fair bit so i assume their pretty reliable.

I see no reason why not to go for the 500GB.. :)

Quick follow up question before i place an order...... would i need to buy a carrier/cage for the SSD and i'm assuming it will come with the cable for the mobo ?
