Hi

Looking to upgrade my system with the priority being I'm on a budget.;)

I have about £400 to spend.

Current system
Athlon II X4 640 overclocked to 3.2 ghz
Asus M4N98TD
Zalman cnps10flex with 140mm fan
6gb 1333 MHz ram
Aging sata drive (def upgrade I know)
Gigabyte HD 5750 1gb
750w PSU
Frankenstein of a modded case.

Forgot to mention use. I'd like to be able to play the latest batch of games at reasonable resolution and detail etc. Currently play Mechwarrior Online mostly getting about 30-40 fps.

Its a dell unit. Out of an xps 700 system. Its got 4 rails at 18amps each. Also has two pci-e 6pin connectors and spare 12 volt lines to make another or 8pin existing ones

Cheers for the welcome!

Hi there and welcome :)

Do you reckon your frankenstein case be re-used for a new system (for example, will it fit a 10in long, dual slot wide video card) or do you really want a new case?

Also, will you be needing an new OS if you were to with a new motherboard, or do you have an OS you can use on a new motherboard?

Hi, thanks for the reply!

I have win 7 64bit ultimate so fine there. The case can be reused until I can afford a 540 air and new PSU.
I could mod the case and remove drive bays to survive till I can afford it.

That board isnt the EVO Rev2.0 so pretty poor, the Rev2.0 are more beefed up which is important for these power hungry FX chips.

There is also a BF4 version of that same card for £5 more.

Well that is pretty much what I had in my basket already! I'm thinking of going ssd though and adding storage in a couple of months when I need it. I have also managed to source a motherboard - gigabyte 990fxa- ud5. Any good? I would like to overclock the 6300 in the near future after the honeymoon period!

Any advice on ssd would be good. Budget a bit flexible maybe £60-£70

Thanks Fulax I was considering that very drive.

RJC -Cheers, is that a recommendation to my budget or best drive at price point?

The 990 fxa ud5. Managed to find one from a competitor.! Pretty excited to get this all together. I used to be in to pc's, then went to consoles for about 10 years. This is my first decent machine for a while.

Hoping to water cool down the track too. I saw some really tidy builds in this case.

All together! Just need some time tomorrow to stress test it! Awesome service, love the fact i could find out exactly where my parts were. Can't wait to play a few hours and see what legs the system has. Cheers OC you rock!
