Hey guys,

I have built my last 2 PC's from great advice i have had from here and parts from overclockers. I cant afford to make a new one at the minute but have some money saved up and wondered if anyone can help with advice on upgrades. I only play games and while it plays most a lot of new ones coming!

This is what i currently have
VTX3D HD 7850 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor
Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
OCZ ZS Series 650W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
BitFenix Merc Beta Gaming Case
Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366)

I have like £300/£380 for upgraded parts, can anyone help?

thanks a lot

You don't need to change your memory.

You can always sell the SSD which comes free with the GPU.

That GPU is not as fast as the 290 but would still give good gaming performance and leave some money leftover for other upgrades such as a HDD for more storage. 8 Gb of Ram is plenty for any modern games, any more would only be useful for graphics editing. You might be able to get more for your money though with that other deal... the R9 290 is a great card.

Ok,

And that would be all good with the rest of my machine? see me through until late next year, when i can get a new machine?

thanks

Your Mobo should be fine with it and the graphics card either r9 290 or 280X would last you until mid 2016 for mid range games.

If you go for the 280X I would recommend the Sapphire Toxic Version. Nice overclock.

ok thanks guys, or should i get one of these new 285's ? if i do i can get a new 144hz monitor as well?

anyone know if thats worth doing?
