Hi guys,

I got some superb advice from you lot a couple years back on a build and I'm wondering if I may pick your collective brains again for some upgrade advice?

I'm only looking to carry myself through to the next rebuild at some point next year, maybe, so give me just what I need to keep ahead of the curve for now.

Existing (and aging) build is...

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 612S
MB: Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
PSU: XFX Pro 550W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
RAM: GeIL EVO Leggera 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
GPU: Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7850 OC Windforce 2X 2048MB GDDR5
SSD: Intel 330 Series 60GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive
HD: Toshiba (7K1000.D) 1TB SATA 6GB/s 32MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA100) HDD
DVD: Samsung SH-224BB/BEBE 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black)
CASE: Corsair Carbide 200R Compact ATX Case - Black
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-02050)

I'm thinking new GPU, new PSU and more RAM for now. Then a new SSD. What do you guys think?

Thanks very much. :)

You do not need a new PSU, the one you have is made by Seasonic, it is of excellent quality. You only need a new one should you wish to run crossfire (two GFX cards).

A good GFX upgrade would be either the £199 pre order Powercolor R9 290 or MSI R9 290X LE at £250.

They will give a huge boost if you want to improve your gaming capabilities.

As for SSD I would suggest a 256GB sized SKhynix or Crucial MX100.

Then all that's left to do is get some more speed from the CPU.

That's great, stulid. Thanks very much for your advice.

I better get budgeting!

Any guides for CPU overclocking? I'm not all that knowledgeable about it.

Thanks again.

Try that.

Update your BIOS first so its the latest and will recognize the new GFX card.

P.S here are the other parts,
