Hi guys was looking for a bit of advice on potential upgrades for my build which I built in 2013. From looking into it a bit I think the best route would be to upgrade my GPU so any recommendations in that department would be great, but would also appreciate any advice on other parts I could potentially upgrade. Here is my current build
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K
GPU: HIS Radeon HD 7870 IceQ X Turbo X 2GB
RAM: Patriot Intel Extreme masters 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
MOBO: Asrock Z75 Pro3 Socket 1155 VGA HDMI 7.1 ATX
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX 500W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
Case: Thermaltake V3 BlackX edition

To outline the questions clearly:
1. Would a GPU upgrade be the best choice?
2. What GPU would people recommend upgrading too?
3. Are there any other parts in my build people would recommend replacing or adding?

I am looking at upgrading so my system will be able to run new games such as; The Witcher 3, The divison etc at a decent level and also to improve how it runs current games like Metro last light.

I would buy a ssd for the os and new gpu I'm on the green team lol so I would buy a 980 or 970. I'm no expert but I'm sure someone else will come along to help you.

Let them know your budget

Not sure what my budget would be as I was hoping some people would recommend which parts to upgrade and give some suggestions for what with and then I could allocate a budget from there. I would think I could manage about £200-£300.(Also cheers for the suggestions)

How about a Crucial MX200 250GB ssd and a new GPU?

Crucial MX200 250GB 2.5" SSD £100 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-051-CR&groupid=701&catid=2104&subcat=2394

KFA2 GeForce GTX 970 4096MB GDDR5 £260 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-001-GX&tool=3

Or this. Not the cheapest but it is in stock.

Asus Radeon R9 290 DirectCU II OC 4096MB GDDR5 £230 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-334-AS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1752

What sorts of games are you playing and at what resolution and detail level do you prefer? What's your monitors max resolution? Are you looking to get a new monitor with better resolution sometime soon?

If not & your monitors max res is 1920x1080p, then, maybe have a think about an AMD R9 280X as a cost effective upgrade if you need it?

Sapphire Radeon R9 280X Vapor-X OC 3072MB GDDR5 £200 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-323-SP&tool=3

1GB ram more than your current card and 700+ more stream processors.

An SSD would make the biggest noticable difference, and the 290X is about the best single GPU available offering the best bang for buck though a little power hungry, coming pretty close to the Nvidia 980.

Superflower's Leadex Gold 650w psu is on sale right now, and is a superb long term investment, unless you plan on two 290X in crossfire, then you could get the 1000w model.

The Crucial range, MX100 and MX200 seem to offer some pretty good performance reviews and come highly recommended, with 250gb being the best option.

If your case can take a 240mm radiator, a 240mm all in one cooler (AIO) is worth looking at too.

Cheers for the suggestions guys I think I've decided as my budget's higher than originally thought to go with these for now:
YOUR BASKET
1 x Crucial BX100 500GB SSD SATA 6Gbps 7mm Solid State Drive (CT500BX100SSD1) £136.98
1 x Antec EDGE 750w 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular Power Supply £99.95
1 x Phanteks Enthoo Pro Mid Tower Enthusiast Case with Window £89.99
Total : £336.52 (includes shipping : £8.00).

And I will wait for the AMD 300 series cards to come out before upgrading my GPU,
cheers for all the advice

As the budget has increased I thought I may as well get a larger wattage psu to save money down the line. Cheers for the other two recommendations, somehow missed those when I was looking. Is superflower considered a more solid brand then antec then?

The Antec is made by Seasonic, again another top tier manufacture of PSUs, the others are just cheaper.
