Looking to upgrade from my 570 and was looking at one of the 970's but wanted to come on here to make sure that everything is compatible.

Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V
CPU: i5 2500k @ 3.3
Case: Corsair Carbide Series 400R
PSU: 750W PSU, Corsair Enthusiast Series

Was looking at https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-147-GI&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1010

Will be wanting to play The Witcher 3 and newer and some older games that my current card has restricted.

I haven't overclocked my CPU as this was the first PC I built so was very wary on doing stuff I didn't know how to, but as this is almost 4 years old I'd be willing to give it ago with some know how and research.

Thanks :)

Just make sure that your bios is upto date tbh, friend of mine had a few problems (inc cold booting) on a 2500k based system and a bios update sorted all his issues :)

I am almost in the exact same position as you only I've got my 2500k at 4.4ghz. Is there a 970 killer coming in the 390 range, or is it just a titan killer?

I know that my 570 GTX struggles with the witcher 2 though. 1440p is a no go and at 1080p it can drop to single digits. I imagine we will not do well on the witcher 3 haha.

Corsairs website says that the maximum card length for the case is 318mm whilst overlclockers says 316mm. Couldn't find the length of the card on Overclockers, so looked on gigabytes website and it says the length of the card is 312mm. Is that enough room? Sounds... tight.

Also the connectors on my psu are all 6 pin, but they have 2 pin connectors attached to each of them to make them 8 pin, im guessing that's how they are supposed to work? That graphics card needs 1x 6 pin and 1x 8 pin. Before I buy can someone tell me that this is correct? :D

Sorry for the terrible use of the English language.

Looking in the case I don't think that there will be much room for the gigabyte version. It will be very snug with the hard drive bays.

Can anyone recommend another version that it is smaller? Was reading that the MSI one isn't bad. I intend it to be plug in and play so won't be overclocking it.

The 380 / 380X are apparently going to be Hawaii Pro and Hawaii XT, but both with 8GB, modest increase in CPU clocks and massive increase in memory clocks (250Mhz). If should beat the 970 and 980 comfortably at high res, and have a modest advantage at low res.

Ordered yesterday and came today.

Do I need to uninstall my previous drivers? Been trying to but when I restart after, Windows automatically installs the drivers again! I uninstalled NVIDIA HD Audio driver first, it asks me to restart which I do, Windows then proceeds to install the driver again when it starts back up.

HELP ME PLEASE. :(

In the program and features part where i'm trying to uninstall the drivers there are 5 Nvidia programs.

NVIDIA 3D vision Driver
NVIDIA Geforce Experience
NVIDIA Graphics Driver
NVIDIA HD Audio Driver
NVIDIA PhysX System Software

I first uninstalled the graphics drivers but it won't let me uninstall anything after that. It tells me that it needs to restart. I click restart and it boots back up with the smaller resolution but the icon shows up in the bottom right of the task bar saying its found new hardware and its installing the drivers. It then tells me to restart again and the resolution has gone back to normal as the drivers have been installed again.

It does the same when uninstalling the HD audio drivers. Asks me to restart, boots back up and installs them drivers again.

I have no clue :(.
