Hey, I'm considering upgrading my PC soon and I'm pretty sure a GPU upgrade would be the best for a decent performance game. Looking for some confirmation really.

Is it worth upgrading to a GPU in the £200-£300 range from my current?

Current specs :

CPU: i5 2500k
RAM: 8GB DDR3
MB: Gigabyte P67A-UD3-B3
GPU: R9 280
PSU: OCZ 600W

It is, however the new AMD cards are due quite soon so it might be a good idea to wait for those

If you don't want to wait, it looks like R9 290X and GTX 970 are right up your street

Is your CPU overclocked?
What model is your OCZ PSU?

What case are you using and what resolution are you playing at?

My PSU is OCZ StealthXStream 2 600W

Case - Zalman Z9 Plus Tower Case

I play at 1920x1080 and my cpu isn't overclocked mainly due to the fact it seems to run pretty warm already (75c under full load).

yes faster gpu will yield better game performance on that build - almost the same as any newer cpu.
possibly need to be closer to 300 to get something significantly faster.
wait for june 18th/amd announcement just in case theres anything of interest.

if you can hold out until h2 2016 (16nm) you will get much better upgrade bang for your buck..

Maybe consider getting a slightly better cooler and get a good OC on that CPU? What cooler do you use at the moment?

I'm actually not sure why it runs so warm tbh. I have a Raijintek Themis but the temps used to be way worse before I upgraded to this.
