Hello muckers, just looking for a little advice on the best upgrade path for my PC please.

I ordered this back in 2011:

MSI ATI Radeon HD 6970 2048MB Twin Frozr III GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **Supplied with Dirt 3 & Deus Ex PC Games** 1 £224.99
Intel Core i7-2700K 3.50GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM 1 £209.99
Gigabyte Z68X-UD5 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard 1 £133.33
Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CT128M4SSD2) 1 £129.16
Corsair Graphite 600TM Midi Tower Mesh Windowed Case - Black 1 £112.49
Kingston HyperX Genesis 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual/Quad Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3K4/16GX) 1 £54.99
Thermalright Silver Arrow CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA775/AM2/AM3)

Would I be best to upgrade the lot, or just the video card? Some of the newer games I've been playing seem to be struggling - GTA5 and Rust.

Well, depends how deep your pockets are and the resolution you're gaming at.

You won't go far wrong with either a 290X or GTX970 at 1080p - although bear in mind that the 970 has only 3.5gb of full speed VRAM rather than the full 4gb so if you're running at very high resolutions or settings then you may get an issue - link. The 290X series do run hot however so get one with decent cooling if you choose one.

If you have plenty of disposable income then you could get a GTX980ti (although you'll probably want a new PSU as well) - near Titan performance for a fraction of the cost.

The other variable to consider is AMD are about to release their R9 300 series cards so it may be worthwhile waiting a bit.

What corsair PSU? Some are good, some not so good. 290(x) might not be a good idea if its one of the not so good ones.
