I have about £500-600 to upgrade my PC but from reading other posts I am really not sure if it worth it yet.

My current build:
CPU: i5 2500k @ 4.5
GPU: Asus GTX 670 overclocked a little
Mobo: P67A-D3-B3
RAM: 8GB 1600mhz hyperx blu
I also have an SSD for windows and a HDD for data.

I was considering getting a whole new CPU, Mobo and RAM to maybe a 6 core cpu and DDR 4 ram or maybe just the Mobo and ram and then upgrading the cpu a gen later but I am not sure if the i5 2500k would be compatible with any DDR4 mobos? Or should I just wait a while longer?

I would keep what you have and get a new GPU. The performance improvement between Sandy and current gen isn't massive and it could well be money wasted.

What do you use your PC for?

to be honest your current cpu/mobo and ram are fine.

what ress do you game at and what monitor do you have? might be worth changing monitor and GPU.

the 2500K will not fit in any DDR4 mobos as they are different sockets, the 2500K is socket 1155 and the new boards are socket 1151\1150\2011

Intel have just released the 6700K and 6600K (Skylake)

i still use my I7 950 @ 4ghz :)

My monitor is a Samsung sa750 (120hz)and my ress is 1080p.

do you have a budget in mind?

could get a new GPU like a 970 (1080P card) anything higher ress for the future get a \980\980TI but that would depend on your budget really and what detail you want from your games

well I had about £500-600 planned for the whole pc upgrade but il probably save most of it for a upgrade in a few years but I could spend some of that on a new GPU. I do like to run games at High/Ultra which in the last year is getting a bit more difficult on a 670 and I also like gaming at quite high fps because my monitor can do 120fps.

if your happy with your current monitor then GPU would be the best option and save the rest :)

Yeah I guess I am pretty happy with my monitor the only thing I would consider is a g sync monitor but I dont really know if they are as good as they sound ?

With your current monitor set up i would only look at upgrading to a new G sync one if you take a step or two towards the higher resolutions with a suitable powerful GPU to push those extra pixels.

If it were me, i would upgrade the GPU for now and tuck the rest away for another day. If you have the upgrade itch badly, then a 5820k can be hand for the same cost the current skylake i7s but has 6 cores and you will have the option to upgrade to 8 in the future (though i doubt you will see much of a gain from the CPU upgrade unless you get a top end gpu and even then it wont really be cost effective)
