Current specs:
I52500k @4.3ghz
MSI P67 B3 Mobo
MSI GTX 970
Kingston 8gb RAM 1300mhz
Intel 320 series SSD
850W Corsair Gold
Coolermaster HAF-X(bit run down front 2 usb slots are broke)

The build is from 2010 and only replaced the GPU from 580 to 970.

Primarily used for gaming(fallout 4 atm) and playing on 1080p 60hz.

Looking for best performance upgrade really with a £800 budget.

Thanks

i wouldn't bother upgrading anything at the moment, is the PC struggling to play fallout 4 or any other games?

It plays fine if i turn shadow detail,Distance and godrays down and rest on ultra.

have not tried any other Demanding games yet(thinking witcher 3 after fallout)

But yeah i mean my system is 5+year old besides the GPU which i bought on release, so was gonna treat myself to some more upgrades and be up to date for when newer more demanding games hit the market

Im not sure if my CPU and RAM are bottlenecking the system and my SSD is pretty old so load times are not fast as they used to be and there is a lot of load screens in fallout

If you are struggling with the graphics then you probably want to up your graphics card game maybe get a 980 / 980ti or wait until next year for Nvidia's pascal.

For £800 you can get a new cpu+mobo , x99 best value at moment 16gb of ram a flashy new case and a ssd, keep the GPU for now.

You aren`t going to see a HUGE performance difference, but if its a case of wanting to upgrade rather than needing to then sure why not? It`ll be shinier :D

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £790.11
(includes shipping: £13.20)

Would this lot be better than skylake? and would the CPU OC well?

From my understanding Pascal is still some time away so i can probably keep the 970 till then and upgrade everything else.

There is lots of x99 v skylake threads here, you can trawl through them but for a gaming machine theres not going to be any noticeable difference, skylake benches slightly better in some games.

You can even drop down to an i5 6600k and save £130 if you want. Or put an extra 40 into the full blood 6700k. Personally i would go with what you listed, but do some reading, research up on it , get whats best for you.
