I am not update to with the latest hardware its worth spending money on a aging system as my motherboard has died, should I buy a used one and get some more RAM & GPU or just buy a new CPU, RAM, motherboard & GPU?

Currently looking to spend £400 i don't mind spending some more later down the line.

Here is my current build

Asus Sabertooth X58 TUF (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard (Broken)
460 GTX MSI Hawk Twin Frost
Corsair Dominator (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Triple Channel Kit
Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.B Cooler

Well, that CPU is pretty damn old at this point... Not much sense in replacing the board as you'll be getting a 6-8 year old part if you do that.

RAM is cheap enough. 2X8GB is like $60 US.

I'd suggest getting a CPU and board now. Use your existing RAM temporarily. Then upgrade RAM and GPU later. Also add an SSD as your OS drive.

Look at an i7 6700K and an entry level Z170 motherboard.

Good idea might as well upgrade slowly I may buy Motherboard & CPU now then then buy RAM & GPU later would my current RAM work ok on this?

Can you recommend me some motherboards? I usually go with ASUS: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/giga...-6600k-bundle-10-pounds-saving-bu-026-gi.html

Your existing RAM is not compatible with most Z170 boards. Whilst there are a handful of Z170 boards with legacy DDR3 support (or were at launch, I can't see any listed now) the vast majority are DDR4.

There are H170 boards that support DDR3 but then these don't support overclocking.

DDR4 prices are in a very good place at the moment. You can pick up 16GB of DDR4 2400 Mhz for under £50, 8GB for under £30.

Grab a Z170 board, 6600k or 6700k, 16GB DDR4, 250GB SSD and you're good to go. Then you can upgrade the GPU when you're ready.
