was having a look in thes thread > https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18748706< and figured it would probably be a good time to upgrade my GTX680 but have no idea which one to choose, any suggestions?

My current Specs Are
  • Corsair Graphite 600T Mesh Windowed Case - Black
  • Asus Rampage IV GENE MoBo
  • Intel Core i7-3820 3.60GHz
  • Corsair H100 Hydro Series
  • 2GB Gigabyte GTX 680 Windforce3X
  • 16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3 1600MHz
  • OCZ ZX Series 1250W '80 Plus Gold' Modular
  • Samsung 256GB SSD 830

Have you considered going down a different route like upgrading your cpu & mobo instead?

That is a first gen i7 you have, right?

Having said that, I've just checked out a comparison between your cpu and a 6600K, and the performance boost wasn't as much as I thought it would be. Yet, I've read several people on here making a similar change & being more than satisfied with it, but I guess it depends a lot on what applications / games you're running.

Yes, my i7-3770S still performs just fine in games. Best bang-for-the-buck card is the GTX 1070 if you can afford it or the GTX 1060 and RX 480 if you can't.

Upgrade the GPU first like others have said, what resolution do you game at and whats your budget?

980ti is overkill for 1080p but with the PNY at £299 I'd be seriously thinking about purchasing it, the 980 that was on today only yesterday would have been ideal for you and was £199!!

Otherwise for under £300 probably an AMD RX480 Nitro would be good for you.
