Hello,

I have the urge to upgrade my current set up (below) with something high end that will last me for a good few years. PC is mainly used for gaming (GTA V, Flight Simulator X, Just Cause 3 & PUBG) & I'd like to be able to play them maxed in 1440p

Intel Core i5-6600K Skylake
Gigabyte GA-Z170N-Gaming 5 Intel Z170
Kingston Fury Black 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 2400MHz
Inno3D GeForce GTX 1070
EVGA Supernova GS 550W '80 Plus Gold'

I'm considering upgrading the CPU & GFX (Maybe the PSU if required) to the below;

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,055.22 (includes shipping: £10.76)

Is my current PSU sufficent for this or should I upgrade to the EVGA Supernova G2 750W? I'm torn weather to upgrade the CPU or not, but figure it's probably best to.

I'm also looking to upgrade from my trusty Dell 2309W with;

Total: £626.37 (includes shipping: £11.38)

Upgrade may not be huge, but I think it'll last me a good while, and I can recoup some of the outlay by selling my 1070 & CPU.

Any opinions on the above?

Thanks.

PSU is on the edge...But if I was you just go 1080Ti that CPU will not make much difference at all.

I had thought that might be the case. It's copped by a NZXT Kraken so could probably overclock it but don't have much experience in this.

Thanks for the replies, certainly some food for thought. Not going to spend over £300 for not much gain (Although, if I do get the 1080Ti, it seems the gains aren't that big either)

the 1080ti is about 60-70% on top of the 1070. (1070 to 1080 is about a 25-30% gain, and another 25-30% from the 1080 to 1080ti)
but depending on what games you play, may be somewhat held back by a 4c4t processor
also it's coming on nearly 18 months now, and new generation cards is rumoured to be on its way (soon)
i'd be wary dropping that amount of cash on old tech
