Hi all, I'm planning on purchasing a 144hz gaming monitor so I can up my system to provide 144 FPS for gaming purposes. My current setup is listed below:

Ryzen 5 2600 3.90GHz Processor
MSI B450 Tomahawk DDR4 ATX Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance 16GB 3000MHZ DDR4 RAM
Bitfenix Formula Series 550W 80 Plus Gold Power Supply
Powercolour AMD RX 580 8GB GPU

I'm looking to squeeze some extra frames out of this system, so I am wondering whether you would suggest me to overclock my CPU slightly (I only have the stock cooler with the Ryzen CPU), or should I upgrade my CPU or Graphics card? If so, which would I be best to upgrade?

Thanks to you kind people's advice, I built my system a fair few months ago and I've noticed that the old Ryzen 5 processors have come down in price quite a bit since the new gen were released.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on what you play and at what Res.

On 1080p to push 144 you will need a faster CPU, on 1440p faster GPU.

Then again on 1080p probably you will need both.

But it depends on what you play, CS:GO will run fine.

Looking for 1080P to push 144Hz.

I predominantly play Fortnite, although I do play other games occasionally.

Budget-wise, I'd like to keep the solution as cheap as possible really. Circa £200-300ish say?

Or perhaps could I squeeze a little extra power from overclocking?

Thanks

He's playing on Low settings :

But the GPU is smashed while CPU is doing alright. I'd say you will need a GPU upgrade.

With 5700 you are looking at 144hz on High:

So it looks like you are selling your 580 on used market and upgrading to 5700 or 5700XT.
