Hello,

I'm looking to upgrade as my PC is feeling a bit dated.
This is going to be over the next few months but just want an idea of what you would recommend.

From a budget point of view, don't want the best thing ever, just decent enough to last a few years and play games at 1440p.
Already got monitor, kb&m etc. Just looking for the component side of things

Current Specs
CPU: i5-7600k
Mobo: Z270 Tomahawk
GPU: GTX 1070
RAM: 16GB DDR4

Budget? Don't forget to include selling your old kit.

B650 with a 7600 or 7500f and 32GB 6000MT/s is my go to budget-ish recommendation as its cheap, you can easily upgrade the CPU (including zen5) down the line and you can use your current GPU for now if you want to spread out your purchases.

Not really sure about budget really, like I mentioned it’s going to be over the course of a few months.

Mid of the range that would be a big spec bump from my current setup?

Especially for non gaming tasks the 7600/7500f are a massive upgrade over your i5 7500k.

Look at anything that compares a 5800x3d to your CPU as that's the closest AM4 comparable CPU to those new Ryzens and you might see them together in benchmarks.

For gaming it's an interesting one, if you went with a new GPU first you might see a bigger difference as the CPU might have a bit left in it, take a look at YouTube and see if anyone has done a revisit on your cpu.

Maybe, is there an alternative slightly cheaper version you would recommend?

I’m surprised everything is AMD based now, I’ve been out of the loop for a while it seems

Give us a budget .

AMD usually offer better value but budget dictates, if ray tracing interest you then Nvidia is better.

I’ve got a case and such,

Really looking for mobo, cpu, ram, gpu and psu. as I feel like upgrading my 1070 would be the bottleneck

I don’t know, £700?
Here's a suggestion with Intel/DDR4, keep your memory until you can afford to upgrade it.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £712.96 (includes delivery: £7.99)

A better AMD combination for 1440p and future upgrades.

Total: £1,116.85 (includes delivery: £7.99)

Make an offer on the B grade Asus ROG 6750xt OCUK have. That + a 7600/B650 build surely won't be far off £700 (plus you sell your old stuff)
