Lo all

My old man is looking to upgrade his aging rig.

He has recently purchased a 22" monitor and I need him to check his PSU and resolution of his new monitor - but he basically wants to upgrade to PCIE with a good enough rig to play some of the current FPS games on his new 22" at a good resolution.

He has around £500 to spend on mobo, CPU (Core 2 Duo), Memory (Is using Xp 32bit so 2 gig would be fine, but may want to go to Vista in the not too distant do 4 gig would be preferable if possible) and GFX card.

He wont be OCing at all - so just a nice rig for around the £500 mark

So far i have come up with

Mobo

Does this have x16 PCIE ??

CPU

GFX

RAM x 2

Oh and dont worry about delivery I can pick the stuff up ;)

Any help / thoughts / suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Thanks guys

I think your right with the mobo - will prolly go with the gigabyte one

As for the CPU - he really has no need (and cant justify) going to the Q6600 - prolly plump for the 6750 - didnt see they were cheaper than the 6600! (Although thinking about it, I could let him have my B3 Q6600 at the same price and upgrade myself to a new G0 version :P)

so (depending if i do the deal with the Q6600) - revised spec is prolly

Is the Geil ram ok ? never had any dealings with it, similarly the Leadtek GTS - should this be OK on a 22" ??

Cheers so far guys :)

Sell him your quad and you can get the Q6600 GO OEM. Sell him your quad for 155 quid and your only paying the shipping charges (which are free on some shops).
