Upgrade.ageing 4870.....recommendations plz...

Right then ,love playin the latest cutting edge games on ultra settings but my 4870 has seen better days.Everyone in my clan have sapphire 6950'swith dual bios ..but they will not fit in my case Antec 902.
have a budget oF£250.So Anyone with recommendations please...could update case but will get expensive with new psu aswell .dont really want to go down that root.ATI Cards look better ..

Non reference 7950, if you are willing to overclock. Perhaps that one on this week only for £240.

His case won't take a card that size and he said he'll need to change PSU

What PSU?

I'd go for the 7850, like the one below and overclock it, you'll be leaving those 6950's in your dust

I have a OCZ Modular 750 watt psu.needs to fit in a Antec 902 case .otherwise spending over £400 ...Not Good.boooo

I agree with Dave get a 7850 and OC it, you'll get better performance than a 6950, and as a bonus lower power usage than the 4870 so the PSU will def not be an issue.

7850 OC is also a great choice. Are you guys sure the 79xx cards won't fit his case? Looks a decent depth to me.

There's room for a 10.5" GPU in the Antec 902 otherwise you have to start cutting out drive bays :/

Overclock your new 7850 when it arrives with Asus GPU tweak to 1200mhz/1800mhz at 1.2v after unlocking advanced features in the utility. Will surpass a stock 7950's performance anyway

I have that case and bay removal is easy. I will measure the room as I think it can take bigger than 10.5"

It will easily fit anything 13" long and still have room for the power sockets at the end. Ohhhh and that PSU is plenty for what you have

My mistake, built a system for a friend and got to 1225/1450 with the 24/7 clock at 1200/1400

Assuming you're at 1920x1080, I think with the overclock I specified you could reach 80-90fps at least.

Really I only get that on ultra on an oc 7970! Around 120fps on high but the frame rates chanes depending on map.

I get 120-130 on Ultra on my OC 7970, something's up with yours dude

Do you mean everything because some people say ultra when they adjust some of the settings.
I haven't heard people getting that high even on the review of my 7970x3 wf I think they got around 70fps I will double check.

Just read the 3d guru review and at 1920x1080 they get average 50fps on ultra on operation swordfish in bf3 so I don't think any things wrong with mine I have never heard getting 120fps on full ultra.

Bum. Needs 500W or greater. That means I'm 40 short at 460W..
