Hey all, I was considering upgrading my PSU and GFX Card on my AGP system for around 100£ to give it some more life before I buy a new and modern PC, I do play games and since my other GFX Card died i'm currently on a Radeon 9200 :( so yeh it's not ideal at all haha, but I was wondering is the 100£ worthwhile, or shall I invest a bit more for a cheap c2d setup for example? it'l be temporary but it will hopefully be my second PC in the future, I play at no higher than 1280x1024 so a cheap upgrade should be fine even on AGP I guess? but thank you for the help

you can get a decent motherboard and good 2 second hand graphics card for around £100.
look on the fleabay or MM

Any money you put in to an AGP system now is a waste. I did the same thing on my old AGP system and still went with a new PCI-E system a few months later.

I would buy a Asus P5QPL-AM (mATX board), and the new Intel dual core e6300 (2.8GHz wolfdale) which will set you back £100 in total. You will need DDR 2 memory unless you have some, if not I recommend using the members market to pick yourself up a bargain. <edit> Also as above, get a second hand graphics card from the MM too. </edit>

I would go down the AMD route with a dual core Athlon ll. There is no point building a new socket 775 rig now as the sockt is about to get killed off. At least with a AM3 mobo you will be able to upgrade in the future.
